DAVID PHILIPPAERTS UNLUCKY 12th IN BRAZIL
The last of the three overseas events of the 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship was run last weekend back again in Brazil on the beautiful circuit of Beto Carrero.
DAVID PHILIPPAERTS was really motivated to improve from his last good GP's and had a very good start of the weekend with a 4th finish place in the qualifying race of the Saturday. In the first moto DP19 took almost the holeshot together with Tony Cairoli and for a few laps he was following the six time world champion who was leading the race. After being passed by Nagl, DP could still manage to ride third for most of the race and just toward the end of the moto Paulin Gautier had to work hard to get him passed. Three laps to the end a stone broke his googles and DP had to slow down and wasted time to take off the roll-off and googles and lost two places and finished 7th. In the second moto the start was not as good as before and DP after a few turns was battling around the 18th position and when he was making his way through the field he badly crashed and had to retire. Once more this season, just some bad luck has prevented DP19 to collect important points.
Harri KULLAS was not racing in Brazil, after the troubled start of the season with an injury, it was decided to prepare the next GP in France with a dedicated intensive training to return at his best for the second part of the championship.

Giacomo Gariboldi: Gariboldi Honda Team Owner:
"After the qualifying race of the Saturday where DP finished a strong 4th I really thought that we were going on the right way for the weekend and again after the very good first race I saw for the first time this year DP with the speed to stay with the leaders. Unfortunately a stone at the end of the first race and a crash in the second race have spoiled our ambitions.""

David Philippaerts, 8th overall of the MX1-GP:
"Ii's a pity, the rythm of the leaders is coming and without the problem with the stone in the first race I could have finished 4th or 5th."
